HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN A PAINTING IS FINISHED?

I can usually tell by the way my heart beats. Somewhere along the way, I begin to slow down my painting and begin looking… Sometimes I stare for a long time. I can always tell if the piece feels authentic and exciting by the way my heart beats… almost like your heart might beat when you see the person you love. When everything looks like it is where it should be, and the painting isn’t “calling” for more… I sit with it for a few days. If I come back and feel the same excitement and “PITTER PAT,” I know it is finished.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO FINISH A PAINTING?

People ask this question all the time, and it’s a difficult question to answer because I usually work on SEVERAL paintings at the same time. Also, some pieces come together quicker than others. While some paintings take weeks, months, even years… others can come together within a couple of hours.

HOW QUICKLY WILL MY ORDER SHIP?

Your order will go out within five to seven business days. All pieces are shipped by UPS or USPS. Actual ship times may vary, but your piece or pieces should arrive within 2-3 weeks. All shipments are insured and include tracking and delivery confirmation. Expedited shipping is available. Who owns the rights to the artwork after i purchase the painting?

I retain all rights to all artwork I create. This includes the rights to the image of sold & commissioned original paintings.   I retain the right to make REPRODUCTIONS OF ANY AND ALL ARTWORK I CREATE UNLESS THE CLIENT HAS PURCHASED THE FULL OR PARTIAL RIGHTS TO THE ARTWORK (this is in addition to purchasing the original).  

The client or buyer may not reproduce the artwork in any way without written permission. 

If the artwork ends up being reproduced in a magazine or other media I only ask for credit.

When you purchase an original painting you, the collector, have the right to display the artwork in your home or business, but the artwork may not be resold or reproduced without my written permission.

Please let me know if you are interested in purchasing full or partial rights to your painting.  Some collectors choose to purchase my right to reproduce the artwork to ensure it will never become a print.  I am totally happy to work that out with you!  

WHEN DID YOU START PAINTING?

Although I have spent my life drawing, sketching, and creating things by hand, I didn’t start painting until 2014. I volunteered at a creative retreat, and was lucky enough to assist Flora Bowley in her painting class. Her intuitive painting technique was so fascinating to me. So, I ended up buying her book, Brave Intuitive Painting, which sat on my bookshelf for an entire year before I cracked it open. I read it once, and loved it so much, that I read it again… and decided to invest in a few painting supplies. I also took her online classes, as well as a few classes with some other painting instructors. While taking online courses, I began my own journey in my studio. Since I started painting, I have spent COUNTLESS hours in the studio, finding my groove, defining my style. There have been moments of joy, moments of frustration, several highs and lows, but it is the journey of discovering what is inside me that makes me love it so much. Painting has become my passion, my highest work, and my purpose. It has not been an easy journey, but it has been beautiful and meaningful… and I continue to grow and learn.

do you know what you are going to paint before you start painting?

I typically don’t plan at all. I select the colors I want to use based on my intuition. I make shapes and create layers that speak to me in that moment. I can usually tell if a painting is working based on the way my heart beats as I’m creating. It’s all about the feelings.

do you ship internationally?

I would be THRILLED to ship my work overseas to you. Although I do not have international shipping listed as an option in my shop, I would be happy to get a shipping quote for you on any piece or pieces that interest you. do you accept returns?

Every order, commission, and sale is handled with care and as much clarity and transparency as possible.  My goal is for you to be completely happy with your purchase.  Because of this, all sales are final except in certain situations.  
Please take the time to read descriptions carefully and the check colors on multiple screens if you are concerned about color variations.  I try my best to represent the colors, tones, and textures in my work honestly and clearly.

do you accept commissions?

I do accept commissions. My current timeframe is around six months to completion. However, the timeframe and price will vary depending on the size of the piece you are requesting. We will have an initial consultation to go over details. Please visit my “COMMISSIONS” page for more information.
